It has been a wet old start to Spring which at this time of the growing season is an exciting thing. The Longview Creek Vineyard which is at the foothills of the Macedon Ranges and the home of Over the Way wines bud burst mid September, with the 'This Year's Love' Vineyard in Macedon ranges almost a month later. This is a time of the year that we love, lets hope we have a good even flowering and fruit set to get this vintage off to a good start.
Vintage 2016 isn't far away, we are once again sourcing Pinot Noir from the Longview Creek Vineyard, the last wine made in 2014 was a brooding masculine wine with yields of less that 0.5 tonne per acre. The good news is that flowering and fruit set has been good, with more normal yields this year. The canopy looks great, and it will be most likely an early vintage with picking early March expected.
Over the Way has a new winery ! We have taken up residence at the Longview Creek Vineyard, it has provided some much needed space and access to some great cool climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir We look forward to sharing highlights of the upcoming vintage in our new winery with you !
